Afternoons with Grandpa

Image
Grandpa was a very special part of my life.  In those final years after I moved back from England we had some lovely afternoon teas together. Sometimes I would even supply treats I baked at home. The Bravos would sometimes join us from across the world. Until one day they joined us in real life, or as Addy says, "for real life." Addy was so happy to meet her Grandpa George. When Grandpa met his great-granddaughter he said, "I made it." We were also joined by my cousin Matt and his partner, Annabel. According to Addy there were spiders everywhere. I guess she'd heard about Australian creepy crawlies. But then spider-girl was there to save the day. Here are four generations together. There were some lovely photos captured that day. And some silly ones... some very silly ones. You might've noticed us wearing these silver party hats in a few of the photos.  That's because we loved turning our afternoon teas into celebrations for special occasions. The final ...

Final Family Adventures... For Now

We've reached the end of the Bravos' visit to Australia in May last year. We ate some lunch at the Peachtree Hotel, which is quite fancy now compared to the partying days of my youth. They even have a cool playground, which Addy loved. She is in the next photo, if you look closely. It's a bit like Where's Wally , which is what she requested when she came over in the afternoon. We also watched some of A Bug's Life . Then we all took a stroll through the reserve near where I live. Addy insisted on taking the Littlest Pet Shop dog and carrier. After a little while she asked me to carry it. Then I asked my mum to carry it. Even though this was the end of my time with them in Australia, in just a few months Mum and I will be spending time with them at their place in America. But don't tell Addy because it's a surprise.
