London was Calling

August 2019 I took a day trip to yep, you guessed it... London. The day started in Parliament Square, which is home to statues celebrating historical figures.

I walked through to Parliament Square to reach Westminster Abbey.

This was where I was supposed to meet Kyra and her parents and aunty. After reaching Westminster Abbey I called Kyra to discover they were actually all waiting at Parliament Square.

I zoomed in on one of the photos I'd taken while walking through Parliament Square to realise Kyra's aunty, and Mom and Dad Nowacki could be seen in the background. When Kyra and I worked at Disney World together I basically became part of the family.

We didn't end up visiting Westminster Abbey. That's on my list for another visit.

Instead, we decided to grab lunch. We walked through a few packed pubs unable to find a seat. Then we found the Sherlock Holmes Pub.

Probably the coolest pub I've visited.

The food was delicious.

Kyra and I got our five-a-day in our glasses.

Kyra and I took off to Trafalgar Square.

One of us had our climbing shoes on.

I successfully sat beside a fountain without falling in.

We found the National Portrait Gallery at Trafalgar Square.

The gallery features artworks by famous artists such as Seurat,

Van Gogh,

Monet,

and one of my faves, Degas.

The architecture is just as stunning as the art.

A floor mosaic includes elements of British life.

Kyra insisted on being part of the art.

Next we caught a double decker bus to Harrods. Kyra was so excited to catch one of the iconic red buses. Well, our bus pulled up, and... it was white. We still got to sit on the top level and see some of London’s sights.

The bus dropped us a short walk from London's famous shopping centre.

Inside we discovered some high end brands.

I’m not sure if the hidden Mickey was intentional, but my inner Disney freak found it.

The Egyptian vibe was a little interesting.

Some furry friends were un-bear-ably cute.

After our shoppping adventure and a ride on the Tube it was time for me to farewell my Nowacki fam.

A few weeks later I returned to London visit fellow Blue Mountains Musical Society friend, Cassie.

We met at the Doggett's Coat and Badge Pub on London's South Bank.

London has some fancy pubs. Here I tried toad in the hole for the first time.

After a short walk across Blackfriars Bridge Cassie and I parted ways.

The next day I parted ways with London, but only for a couple of months. London is packed with exciting things to do.
