Thank You for The Sound of Music
Two weekends ago I finished my role in the ensemble of Blue Mountains Musical Society's The Sound of Music.
I had a blast as a goatherd back up dancer.
It was so much fun being high on a hill. At least that's what I... herd.
I even attended a ball and a wedding in a beautiful gown.
Thank you Mitchell for being the dance partner of my dreams.
And for being the husband of that one nightmare.
Sometimes I kept my eyes open in the market square.
And sometimes I didn't.
Sometimes I stayed upright while rehearsing for the dance in the market square... and sometimes I didn't.
Tilly and Belle I thoroughly enjoyed my time skipping across the stage with you, and also waiting in the wings to skip across the stage.
Tilly keep working hard at the apronry, and Belle... shhhh.
I call this next series of photos Basket Case.
These next photos feature the lovely Erin, who kindly made beautiful roses for the entire cast.
Every show I won a third prize trophy with Nina and Mrs Frump Katie.
It was an absolute pleasure to push you both out of the way to bow first.
Here we are joined by Emily who won second prize, but honestly her bows were worthy of first place.
I also played a nun at the beginning of each show.
I’d show you photos of me as a nun onstage, but there are… nun. There may be no evidence of me being a nun onstage, but there is plenty of evidence of me being a nun in a lift.
Thank you to Kelly, one of our fabulous producers and nun wrangler extraordinaire, for these uplifting photos.
Here I am with Kelly and the Louisas because we all wore blue on opening night.
Here we have Kelly with one of our other wonderful producers, Kate, director John, music director Alina and choreographer Amy.
They were an incredibly dedicated and talented team.
Thank you John for your vision, your organisation and your calm presence.
Thank you Alina for your focus and commitment to not only teaching us harmonies in English, but also in Latin.
Thank you Amy for your wonderful choreography, your passion and your patience.
Thank you for having me as your dance captain and for having me in the show.
And thank you for attempting to climb ev'ry mountain with me.
I promise I'm not touching the backdrop here, but I was apparently expecting to scale the mountain with my eyes closed.
And here is when I guess I thought about flying up the mountain?
Thank you to the artistically talented Linda for painting the beautiful backdrop and designing the amazing, versatile set.
Here we have two of our incredible leads (Alex as Captain von Trapp and Mel as Maria Rainer) in front of that beautiful backdrop. For some reason neither of them is trying to fly.
A show wouldn't be complete without an awkward daughters photo shoot at opening night featuring my gorgeous sisters Amy and Bec.
As head of costumes Bec was responsible for making me look fabulous onstage.
She also made everyone else look fabulous, which included all the wonderful people of Dressing Room 2.
I can't wait for us all to film the money salad video, and then I distribute the funds completely fairly.
Across the other side of Dressing Room 2 we had the therapy corner set up by Anna. I forgot to take a photo of it, but I did remember to take a photo of this delicious scone she graciously shared with me.
In the front corner of the dressing room we had Mitchell's "study" corner.
He was obviously hacking into the second frame. He'd already hacked into the mainframe where he didn't saw metal, but he had seen it.
Thank you Dressing Room 2 for being full of belly laughs and beautiful people.
Those beautiful people included Brendan,
Nina,
and Nellie. I miss waiting for the alien abduction and the Mel-Mel scene with you.
The first party of the season was hosted by Ron who provided us with snacks and colour changing lights that Luca activated.
This is Ella (and expert ironer, Sam).
She had the most important role of the entire production. She provided delicious baked goods at rehearsals. Including this incredible cake.
I have a question for everybody, "Who enjoyed eating the food baked by Ella?"
"Me!"
Some of the party had a little hair change thanks to Ron who also had quite the selection of wigs at their party.
Hair we have Tilly and Ella.
That's me in the blue, and James.
Look at that range.
It's called acting (and also modelling).
Next is Evelyn of lolly salad fame,
Marcel of no-hair fame,
and Dani of candid selfies fame.
Last we have Lachie (sporting his own hair), and Hayley.
Hayley and Alex were the wonderful hosts of the next party.
This is Wilver. Yes, the same one from Wilver's VIP Lounge. Here he is serving cheese, crackers and cabanossi.
Here is John serving grapes and cheese.
And here is Wally serving. Slay.
A year ago Ron and I began a tradition of taking photo shoots at night after parties because... well, because... we're just really cool people.
We continued our tradition, except the first photo was taken indoors during the party.
This photo fit our standard brief - early hours of the morning, on the street, slightly blurry. Perfection.
These next two photos were taken at Ron's party, where I was compared to Thing 1 and 2.
I think I became Thing 3. If you zoom in you can see we are clearly triplets.
Ron thank you for continuing to be an awesome photo taking/being in friend.
And thank you for being a constant in my blogs and my life.
The final party of the season was the cast and crew dinner.
Thank you to everyone who was part of the parody. Making fun of people is more fun when it's with friends.
Here's a little candid photo of me in my outfit that included a brooch with a doe (a deer, a female deer) on it.
Now that The Sound of Music is over I'm sure everyone has been celebrating the record ticket sales with a glass of red wilk.
Thank you to everyone that was part of The Sound of Music! Love and lobbies always.
This is Dance Captain Clary/Marjorie signing out. Xo
