Rome-ing Around
Hi there! It's me... Clary. Yes, that's right, I've started another blog. My free WordPress account wasn't cutting it anymore, so I've come grovelling back to Blogger.
For anybody new to my blogging adventures, you can check out this post. I'm currently in the midst of writing about an epic European adventure I went on with Contiki last November and December. I guess this is the point where I tell you I'm almost never up-to-date with my blogging. Check out Clary's Adventures on WordPress for my most recent travel writing.
We'd just been in Venice, and we were on our way to Rome.

After unpacking it was time for an evening walking tour. The advice given to us by our trip manager, Izzy, was "Dominate. Don't hestitate", which I think is advice we can take into other areas of life.

The legend goes that if you toss one coin into the fountain it will ensure your return to Rome.
Then you can toss a second coin in for the promise of a new romance.
If you throw a third coin in you're destined for marriage.

I threw a coin in, so apparently I'll be returning to Rome one day. I've gotta get that second toss in to have any hope of a future romance.

Olivia, Meagan, Liv, Fi and I spent so long having a little selfie stick photo shoot at the fountain that we lost the rest of our Contiki group.

Never fear. Through power of phones and location services we eventually found the group, and ventured past the Pantheon.

It wasn't long before we were all heading for dinner in the aquatic themed interior of Lo Scoglio di Frisio.

Fi was having a lovely time, and Evan... well, it seems he was too.

The salad wasn't great, but who visits Italy for salad?
Get yourself someone who looks at pizza the way we all looked at this pizza.

We finished two of these between four of us.

Our Contiki group filled most of the restaurant. We were serenaded by two singers.

Much to the delight of Bankie...

That was just day one in Rome. Day two in Rome is coming your way soon... ish.

We'd just been in Venice, and we were on our way to Rome.
This time I was sharing a room with Tahlia, Tegan and Beth. Last time we shared we had no space to move around each other. This time we had room to move, but the shower was literally a cupboard. You didn't open a door to a bathroom. The rest of the bathroom was through another door. You stepped from the room, straight into the shower. Apparently I didn't take any photos at this hostel, but if you scroll down you'll find a link to the website.

Rome was also the city I went front-packing in. Most people talk about backpacking through Europe, but if you want to minimise your chances of theft I recommend moving your backpack to your front. It also doubles as a tool to push people out of the way.
We passed some impressive architecture, but our first noteworthy stop was the Trevi Fountain.
