We Rocked You
From December last year until 4am on Monday I was part of something pretty special.
We Will Rock You (or WWRU).
I had a blast as a Teen Queen,
lived it up as a Yuppie,
and loved being Tina Turner.
(I wasn’t actually playing her. That was just my character’s name.)
The best part of We Will Rock You wasn’t the time spent rehearsing or onstage, it was the incredible people I got to spend time with.
The Triad was where it was at. My alto queens (plus Mel who I bonded with over her love of socks), you are all magnifico-oh.
I don’t have a photo of the Triad exclusively, but the Triad is everywhere.
You may find us when you least expect it.
My fellow Teen Queens, you are all gorgeous humans who deserve the best in life.
I even met my lovely twin, Elissa, during my dance audition.
The stunning Featured Dancers all ate.
My marketing partner-in-crime, Aiden, you are a gem. I’m so grateful we gelled so well.
Best marketing duo ever!
Throughout the We Will Rock You journey I got to take part in some of my favourite pastimes…
photography (sometimes in landscape),
Thank you to the insanely talented leads and understudies who were an absolute delight to work with.
I took the photos on these banners too.
Another great pastime was the pre-act 2 ritual. (Who doesn’t love a good shake down with Shogs?)
Also, twerking (with Brooklyn),
pre-show light checking (with Brooklyn),
(Brooklyn and I practically became one person through this experience.)
getting married (also with Brooklyn, and Paige too).
The ceremony was supposed to be on The Mondo, but sometimes you have to pivot.
We can’t forget about my absolute favourite pastime - responding to my own comments on social media. Maybe I’ll miss that the most.
Just kidding, I’ll miss the random hangs most.
We frequented Macca’s, hit up Peachy (where the delightful Dig and his tiny fedora made an appearance),
saw Craig’s band at The Royal (where Jane and I tore up the dance floor),
gave a free concert at Holey Moley,
danced the night away at Panthers (we even received a noise complaint from too much projecting),
and loitered in a lot of car parks.
I’m surprised Marni, Paige, Brayden and I aren’t still chatting in a car park somewhere.
It was so great to find a lovely bunch of people who also don’t know when to quit.
I wasn’t sure what to expect doing my first Penrith Musical Comedy Company show, but I happened to meet some of the most beautiful, supportive, outrageous, talented, committed, gorgeous humans to ever exist.
Spencer and I will miss seeing you every week.
Big love to all the beautiful humans who were part of my We Will Rock You ride!
Thank you for helping me achieve my rhapsody. Xo
