Swiss Miss

These are truly unprecedented times. This is my third day in a row of blogging. Maybe I’ll catch up one day soon. Today you can join me on a virtual tour of Lucerne in Switzerland. It was December 6, 2018.

Day 20 of my Contiki tour began with breakfast at the hostel before heading up a mountain.


We caught the cable car up Mount Pilatus.




This was obviously a time before social distancing became our new normal.


I'm grateful that I took the opportunity to experience the breathtaking view.






For many people on the Contiki tour it was their first time experiencing snow.




Laura didn't quite know how to stay on her feet.






Following our adventure up the mountain our next included activity was visit to Harry's Watches. We gathered in a room and were exposed to an elaborate ad hosted by an old cartoon man. I chose not to buy any watches or swiss army knives.

Next up was one of the most expensive paninis and hot chocolates I've ever had. I can't remember the exact price I paid, but to this day I do know that I will be going on a fast next time I visit Switzerland to avoid buying expensive food.

Lucerne looked like a quaint Christmas village, and not just because it was close to Christmas.






The beautiful buildings were from a fairy tale.




A fairy tale where everyone is allowed back into the world again. 






We strolled across the historic Chapel Bridge,






hit up some vintage stores,






and made our way through a chocolate shop.


Lake Lucerne was our next stop.


This was a Free Time Add On that required additional payment, but I definitely recommend it. Most of the Contiki tour decided to do this activity.


The photos definitely don't do the stunning views justice.




I feel like there's some kind of story with these three photos. I wish I could remember what was going on.






It was lovely to spend some time on the lake.




Our day concluded with dinner in the hostel, then an early night in prison (our former prison accommodation). Our day release had ended. In a twist of fate many people reading this blog post are probably eagerly awaiting their next day release from their home. Stay strong, stay safe and stay tuned for the next virtual tour.

The End of My USA Holiday

Ok, so we’ve gotta go back to January last year for this one.  My final blog about my trip to see the Bravos is very condensed. I was sick, so couldn’t really do much for the last week.  Thankfully, Paige was able to visit.  It was so good to see fellow Pizza Planetear. We of course DFEMed (Dessert For Every Meal), and played some games. Other things I got up to that week included story time with Addy, eating some of the same meals as Addy and game time with Addy.  I also binged The Crown. When Addy was out she decided I needed a love heart cookie.  Addy’s nail salon opened on our final morning. I couldn’t attend, so Alicia took some photos.  At the airport I was fixing up my bag and I heard a little voice yell, “I need to hug Aunt Clary!” I was always going to go back for a hug.  Mum and I had a meal in the airport. Apparently I really felt connected to the colour orange that day.  Then we were flying high over NYC back to Syd.

That Time I Surprised Addy

At the beginning of last year I decided it would be fun to spend Christmas in New York with my niece. I also thought it would be a good idea to surprise her. A week or so (I actually can’t remember how long before) my mum and I told Addy over a video call that we’d be spending Christmas with her, her mum (my sister, Alicia) and her dad (Carlos). The journey for Mum and I started in Sydney… with a photo for the blog, of course.  After an insane amount of hours flying, an encounter with an angry, egotistical TSA agent (or was that on the way home?) we made it to the newly renovated Terminal B in LaGuardia Airport.  Back tracking a little, Mum and I were lined up to walk past sniffer dogs. Except you couldn’t see what was actually happening because there were partitions. But I could hear a TSA agent regularly telling people to listen and repeating instructions aggressively.  I was determined to be the perfect passenger and get it right.  Ok, so now it’s my turn to get s...
