Trip to Australia Takes the Cake

My birthday celebrations continued with a visit to my cousin Lisa's place. Lisa cousin, and my lifelong friend, Bec and her children, Lucas and Chelsea were there too. We'd been to Thai La-Ong for lunch. When we returned Lisa surprised us with a couple of Woolies mudcakes for the three January birthdays. Chelsea very excitedly sang,  Happy Birthday.  A couple of bunnies joined the celebration too. I also received a video call from Addy that day. Dinner that evening was at Lone Star at the Nepean River. People who frequented the former Lone Star location back in the day will remember it as the restaurant where you could throw your peanut shells on the ground. Times have changed. They still offer peanuts to every table, but you can’t throw the shells on the ground.  Tella Balls Dessert Bar was our next stop. Just a short walk along the restaurant precinct pavement. Summer in Australia

In January this year I travelled to Australia for a three week holiday. I flew from London to Singapore. Then from Singapore to Sydney. I was expecting a scorcher, but the weather was particularly mild. Once in Sydney I caught a couple of trains, then was driven to this place I seem to call home every summer. My holiday included a few video calls with my niece, Adelyn. As you can see, she is always delighted to receive the calls.  I was delighted to be back in the land of top quality cafe culture. I hit up Rogue Valley Roaster for a fresh feed. Emu Hall is another fabulous cafe. I have an irrational fear of emus ever since one bit my finger when I was a child, but I didn’t let the presence in statue form impact negatively on my dining experience.  Situated at the foot of the Blue Mountains, the eatery initially didn't receive rave reviews for its service.
