Trip to Australia Takes the Cake

My birthday celebrations continued with a visit to my cousin Lisa's place. Lisa cousin, and my lifelong friend, Bec and her children, Lucas and Chelsea were there too.

We'd been to Thai La-Ong for lunch.

When we returned Lisa surprised us with a couple of Woolies mudcakes for the three January birthdays. Chelsea very excitedly sang, Happy Birthday.

A couple of bunnies joined the celebration too.

I also received a video call from Addy that day.

Dinner that evening was at Lone Star at the Nepean River.

People who frequented the former Lone Star location back in the day will remember it as the restaurant where you could throw your peanut shells on the ground. Times have changed. They still offer peanuts to every table, but you can’t throw the shells on the ground.

Tella Balls Dessert Bar was our next stop. Just a short walk along the restaurant precinct pavement.

The Raffaello Waffle was an epic, mouthwatering masterpiece. And totally healthy too. Look at those strawberries. You know me, always trying to get in those five-a-day.

The following day I visited a high-school friend and her son in their new home. She surprised me with a Woolies mudcake too. Woolies mudcakes are honestly amazing.

That evening Mum and I visited a family friend's home for a barbeque. Before anyone asks, there were no shrimps on the barbie.

Sue and David surprised me with a cake.

Their daughter, Sam, even dropped by with some flowers.

Over the next couple of days I hung out with some friends from Blue Mountains Musical Society, and was introduced to their babies. I met Kate's Zoe.

And I met Emma's Julius.

Amy and Henry came along for the visit too. He insisted the poop emoji toy was actually chocolate cake.

Julius was only too happy to play along.

That afternoon Mum and I went on a mother-daughter date to Glenbrook.

We enjoyed the cuisine from Ballimino's.

Watching a movie at Glenbrook Cinema seems to be a tradition we developed. This time we saw Little Women.

I also treated myself to a choc top.

The following day saw a visit to Percy Plunkett.

The cafe is an Instagrammer's (or blogger's) heaven.

My eating binge continued the next night with some high-school friends at San Churro.

I selected the birthday cake shake.

A couple of days later I caught up with a couple of friends at Macca's. Jess and I being nuggie buddies, of course ordered one of our fave foods.

Ten days after my "birthday weekend" began, Grandpa and I had a joint celebration for our birthdays.

The gathering included some Woolies cupcakes. The Woolies bakery is pretty spot on.

My 31st birthday turned out to be the one where I had five cakes (plus cupcakes).

The next day was the night before I was due to depart back to the UK, so I indulged in some of my favourite Aussie bickies.

I departed Sydney, not planning to return for another two years, but like many other people, my 2020 hasn't exactly gone to plan. One positive of the pandemic is that my blog is finally up-to-date. While my globetrotting has been put on hold for a while, I may blog about my self-isolation adventures. You know the ones that go from the window to the wall... and then back to the window again.

Until next time, stay strong and stay safe.
