New York Niece

Before travelling from London to New York a customs officer was questioning me about my vacation and asked, "What will be the highlight of your holiday?"

I responded, "Meeting my niece."

I was finally going to meet my niece in person. Adelyn was born July 17, 2019 and since then I'd spent lots of time admiring her on video calls, but on December 8, 2019 I finally got to meet the adorable bundle of joy.

Here are a few photos her mum (my sister) took of her while they were waiting for me to arrive.

I guess I kept Addy waiting a little longer than she would've liked.

I gladly sat in the back with my bestie on the way to Alicia and Carlos' place in Long Island.

That night we did a little reading before bed.

Carlos and Addy were a little confused about whose bedtime it was supposed to be.

The next day we went to Smith Haven Mall to meet the big guy in red.

Addy didn't seem to think Santa was all he was cracked up to be.

We took these pics while we were waiting in line.

The next day was a relaxing day inside.

Addy embraced her Aussie heritage.

The following day I headed into Manhattan to catch up with Paige from my Pizza Planet days. I met her where she was getting the bread at Cookshop.

She scored me a beverage on the house.

Like any indecisive person I'd perused the menu online ahead of time and knew what I wanted to order. It was everything I thought it would be and more.

Then next thing I knew some cookies were delivered to my table. Before I knew it the waiter had left.

I hadn't ordered these. Was this something else on the house? I waited... I enquired about them...

Turns out they were supposed to be for another table, but I got to eat some of them anyway. I guess I was definitely having a cheat day.

We headed off to Saks Fifth Avenue to marvel at their Frozen II themed windows.

Each Christmas their windows have a different theme.

We were in Manhattan. It was close to Christmas. We had to see the tree.

The Rockefeller Center Tree.

I've seen it before, but it's just as magical every time.

Plus this was Paige's first time seeing the tree. She was in love.

We waited around to see Saks Fifth Avenue all its festive glory.

I needed a dress for New Year, so we did a spot of shopping along Fifth Avenue.

This is actually what I look like now that I've stopped shaving during quarantine.

I found a dress and we decided to grab a bite to eat. You know those moods where you don't know what you want, and everything you see isn't something you want. After walking past quite a few places we thought we'd give by CHLOE a go. We both found something we wanted inside the vegan restaurant.

My food arrived at the table first.

Then Paige's food arrived.

Our meals hit the spot.

We went back to see the tree from a new angle at a new time.

Still pretty.

Saks Fifth Avenue was quite the festive delight from this angelic angle.

Paige and I parted ways until our next meeting. While I waited at Penn Station for my train back to Long Island I purchased a cupcake from one of my favourite bakeries - Magnolia Bakery.

Delicious every time.
