Literary and Musical Lockdown Adventures

They say in lockdown you should stick to a routine, so I'm sticking to my routine of being behind in my blogging. We're almost at the end of week 12 of lockdown, but I'm taking us back to week 9.

The theme was books. You could be anything relating to a book. You could even be a library, if you wanted.

I chose to be Professor Albus Dumbledore from the Harry Potter series. Or as Mum kept calling him "Gublegorf".

I was pretty excited to use the wand that had chosen me at Ollivander's in Universal Studios, Florida.

Mum was the Granny from Little Red Riding Hood.

Eric was a book worm, which came complete with his own drawing of a book worm.

That evening's activities were set to the Harry Potter soundtrack.

Our first task for the evening was the "Book Alphabet Challenge". Contestants had to come up with a book based word for every letter of the alphabet. When it became to too tricky we scoured our bookshelves, which resulted in some answers like Oven Bag Cookbook, My First Look at Numbers and If I Had a Dog.

We decided the winner of the game was the person who shared the least answers with other contestants. Eric was triumphant. Thankfully Harry did not put his name in the goblet of fire, so was not in the running.

Next up was a little bookmark colouring in.

Following this we did Mad Libs (for Kids). Gotta keep that G rating. This is where you enter verbs, phrases, numbers, places, nouns etc into a website and it generates a story. These are a couple of our favourites from the evening.

We even did one with Grandpa when he called.

By this time my polyjuice potion had really kicked in (thanks to a Snapchat filter).

Our final group activity for the evening was the Four Reader Personality Type Quiz

There was a basic or advanced option. I originally selected the advanced option. Mum asked if I thought the questions were geared towards children. I didn't know what she was on about until we realised she had picked the basic option with questions like this.

Just in case you were wondering, I did not pick “go rock climbing blindfolded”.

For each quiz I did I got a different personality type - The Investigator and The Champion. I'm going to say both are accurate.

Then I had a video call with the Bravos. I did round of Mad Libs with them too. After asking Adelyn her favourite animal she proceeded to enthusiastically sing Baby Shark with all the actions. After asking for a number and then suggesting a few, Adelyn counted to 10 then gave herself a huge round of applause at the end. It was a long process, but we got our story in the end.

I also read a story to Adelyn.

For anyone who is interested in my current and future literary lockdown adventures, here are some recent purchases.

The lockdown adventure for week 10 was all about musicals. I was thrilled to make an appearance as the leading lady from one of my favourite musicals - Mary Poppins.

Mum was a pit musician.

Eric was the director.

Our activity for that night was watching Newsies.

For intermission I set up a concession stand,  which included the program from when I saw Newsies when I lived in Florida.

The main star of the concession stand was the delicious cupcakes and slices from Mrs C's Cupcakes. The strawberry milk also deserves an honourable mention.

The next blog post will include spring fashion.
