Final Dress Up Parties

For a total of 19 weeks I held a dress up party every Saturday night for Mum, Eric and I. Like most ridiculous, risky or outrageous things I do in my life, it started off as a joke. At the end of the first week of lockdown I suggested we have a party to celebrate lockdown because we love it so much. Then because I'm so extra it became a weekly thing, even extending beyond lockdown.

Our second last party coincided with Halloween.

I was a witch.

Mum was a ghost.

Eric was Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Our night included special Halloween cupcakes from Mrs C's Cupcakes. They were frightfully delicious.

We also watched HalloweenTown. It was a cute little Halloween movie that we all enjoyed.

A week later our final party theme was celebrities. I was Ginger Spice.

It helped that I'd recently had my hair dyed following four and a half months of lockdown locks.

Mum was Lady Gaga.

Eric was the paparazzi.

Hello Fresh had gifted us with free latte samples in our previous delivery. Unfortunately, I wasn't too fond of my latte. That may have something to do with not liking the taste of coffee.

That evening we watched celebrity filled film, Cats.

I feel sorry for the non-celebrities who starred in the film. They had no idea of what the final product would look like. It's a shame their talent and prowess were overshadowed. For some of the cast, this movie had the potential to be a career highlight or a career booster.

I think the appearance of the cast would've been a little better if their faces had even an ounce of cat-like makeup. I'm wondering if the faces were left fairly free due to wanting the celebrity faces to be recognisable.

I think Cats proves that stunt casting will not always have the desired affect. Instead of this film potentially being a forgotten flop, it became one of the most well-known flops.

Overall, I’d describe Cats (2019) as unnecessary. The amount of time and money spent on this film could have been used for a other projects, perhaps even to create something original.
