Cardiff's Charms

In February last year I travelled across to the South West of England for work. I decided to make the most of my week there by taking a day trip to Cardiff in Wales.

Cardiff Castle was my first stop.

Here you'll find an homage to the country's emblem.

Yep, it's a dragon. Pretty awesome national symbol.

The ornate interior includes gold leaf ceilings.

I’d finally found a knight in shining armour. He’s the strong, silent type, and a master at playing hard to get.

Here's a photo of me in front of the castle's steep, narrow steps to prove I did actually travel to Wales.

The outer walls of the castle were used as air raid shelters during World War II.

Some of the posters are once again relevant for life today.

In the current fight against coronavirus we’re urged not to panic buy household goods, such as bread and toilet paper. And here’s evidence that sometimes the public need simple instructions spelt out clearly.

I was feeling a little peckish, so I dropped by the Pettigrew Tea Rooms for a spot of afternoon tea.

I‘d love to add that scrumptious lemon drizzle cake to my iso diet.

Cardiff Castle's Animal Wall was just by the Tea Rooms.

Completed in the late nineteenth century, a total of fifteen animals are perched on the concrete wall. Sadly, a seahorse didn’t make the final cut.

I took a stroll through Bute Park on my way City Hall.

City Hall's architecture was pretty impressive.

I was also impressed by in the interior.

I checked out the National Museum Cardiff.

I inspected some art.

I also sussed out a few fancy objects.

Yard Bar and Kitchen looked like a great spot to grab dinner.

I ordered my Pimm's cocktail and was digging the vibe.

After just a couple of sips of my beverage I was informed there was an electrical fault in the kitchen, which meant no food for me, so I ended up at the local Wetherspoons.

I'd certainly  made the most of my day off. Stay tuned for more throwback adventures around the world.
