Happy Birthday To Me

Back in January 2019 I celebrated surviving my 20s. Yep, that's right. I turned 30. Celebrations began the day before my actual birthday. Mum and I went off to Bunnings for a BBQ. A classic Aussie tradition consists of going to a hardware store car park and buying a sausage in bread to support a local organisation.

Later that evening I got ready to go out for dinner with some family and friends.

I got Mum to join in on the photo shoot too.

I ordered my favourite dish from Outback Steakhouse - the Alice Springs Chicken.

I roped someone into taking photos at each end of the table.

Amber, who also goes by Bestie, was having a fabulous time.

After dinner it was time for the best dessert - birthday cake! It was accompanied by a stirring rendition of Happy Birthday, which included stunning harmonies from my Blue Mountains Musical Society friends.

The cake was made by Cath's Cakes, and expertly cut by Keisha.

Social distancing might be a thing now, but it wasn't back then.

Here are some of my beautiful BMMS fam.

I'm a bit  a lot of a weirdo, and thankfully my friends are too. Amy and I did a little "awkward daughters" photo shoot.

Jess and I were sad we didn't have any nuggies.

Bestie and I tried to recreate a meme we featured in a few years ago.

In the process I think we created a potential new meme.

Dani, Amber, Jess and I took a candid selfie. Yeah, it's a thing.

Some BMMS dancers took a photo together too.

I also got a photo with my high school friends. People say after you've been friends for seven years you'll be friends for life. Laur, Keish, Leash and I graduated 14 years ago, so it looks like they (plus Laur's husband, Elisha) are stuck with me.

I couldn't forget photos with my fabulous family.

The dinner portion of the evening ended, but the night didn't. Some of us kicked on at Penrith Panthers, starting with some drinks.

Then Mitchell, Elena, Ben, Mark, Kate and I made our way to the arcade.

After some games, some dancing, and tickets being cashed in for a sloth pen that was gifted to me, the night was over. The next morning I received a video call from my sister and a couple of her friend's kids.

After shaving off the beard I realised I'd turned 30.

That night I had dinner at Chinese restaurant, Baulkham Palace, with my mum and Grandpa.

Dinner was lit.

Then just like that all the birthday social gatherings were over, but the blog posts aren’t. So stay tuned.
