Aussie Adventures
Somewhere between all the adventures, smiles and tears. In amongst the hopes, dreams and fears England became my home. But while I'm on my unexpected Aussie vacay I'm trying to make the most of my time.
Back in July Elena held her baby shower.
It was a lovely gathering with delicious food, catching up with friends, and celebrating the beautiful mum-to-be.
Elena has since given birth to Nico.
I also attended an online party in July. This time for my niece's first birthday.
Adelyn lives in Long Island with my sister and brother-in-law. Thanks to modern technology Mum and I were able to attend her party in our pyjamas.
At first Addy delicately pulled bits of the icing off the cake, carefully placing them in her mouth.
Then she started washing her hands with the icing. I guess she'd really been listening to the advice about hand washing. Unfortunately, the wasn't using soap.
Then before we knew it she was indulging in a cake face mask.
When I visited in December I gave Addy a Belle dress, which she wore for a little birthday photo shoot.
Last month Mum and I visited Cassie and her girls in their new home.
It's situated in the gorgeous Australian landscape.
I met Kahlani for the first time.
I also spent some time with Koa and Kylah.
A few weeks ago I had lunch at Cafe at Lewers.
After the tasty food I explored the garden.
Then Mum and I walked through the gallery, admiring the exhibition showcasing the work of Australian landscape artist, Warwick Fuller.
Set opposite the Nepean River, it was a nice opportunity to dose up on some vitamin D.
I've also had a few socially distant catch-ups with my Grandpa on his front porch.
Some of my adventures haven't required any travel. Mum and I had a board games and Baileys evening.
We also listened to some classic pop songs on a classic radio Mum found while organising.
First we played Up Words. I may have uttered the phrase, "I don't make up the rules. I just choose which ones to follow."
It wasn't long before the game turned into Made Up Words. Maybe I was making up the rules. I decided it was ok to play a word you'd made up, as long as you could provide a plausible definition.
We used to watch Letters and Numbers a little earlier on in the pandemic. The best part about the show was that the winner's prize was the ability to return to the show the next night. Actually that wasn't the best part. The best part was that the loser went home with a Macquarie Dictionary.
Let's just say Mum went home with the Macquarie Dictionary that night.
Aside from board games, I've been reading a lot more than I've been able to in the past few years. This was a recent online shopping haul.
I've also tried my hand at a few Disney drawing tutorials.
Please don't ask why Elsa's left eye is three times bigger than her right eye. Elsa is a little sensitive about her deformity.
I've also been spending some time dancing on TikTok.
Oh, wait. That’s a photo I found from my first year of dancing. I look a little different now.
Spoiler Alert: I did not go viral.
@Claryse_ is where it's at, if anyone wants to check it out.
It looks like I'll be in Australia for at least the next few months, so I'm sure there'll be more Aussie adventures to blog about.
