Blue Mountains Adventures
Mum and I were on a Blue Mountains day trip. We'd just spent some time exploring Leura, then headed further up the mountains to Nooroo Garden in Mount Wilson.
You might be wondering why I chose Nooroo Garden for this particular visit. A few days prior I was scrolling through TikTok and someone had posted a video of the garden. It wasn't long after I'd been telling my Mum about wanting to visit a garden. I Googled Nooroo Garden and realised that Sunday was the last day it would be open to the public until next March.
Yeah, sorry everyone. I guess you can just put them in your diary for next year. Well, they are still open for groups of at least ten who book ahead.
For a $10 entry fee we were able to roam the gardens, and take as many photos as we wanted for the blog. What a dream! Well, not for my mum who became my photographer.
Except at one point I was asked by a couple of women to take their photo. One of them then offered to take my photo. She even went for a few different angles.
It seemed to be a day for experimenting with photography. I accidentally left portrait mode on in this photo, which left Mum a bit blurry. Whoops.
Then I took portrait mode off and decided to go for a completely unflattering angle.
During this photo the phone was at such a low angle that a lovely man (who I think might be one of the owners of the property) asked what we were looking for. He then told us about someone who was confused between peonies and roses, to which I responded, "I just call them all flowers."
Here are some of the flowers we saw in the garden.
I do believe this is a rose, but I could be wrong.
One minute Mum was saying she didn't want any photos taken of her.
The next minute I convinced her to pose as if she was touching the top of this hedge, while some other tourists walked towards us.
Then here's me pretending to be a model. It’s wearing my beret almost down to my eyebrows for me.
It was such a nice place to walk around. You're even allowed to have a picnic there.
The women who I'd taken the photo for earlier had told me about a really nice area of the garden I hadn't seen yet. We ran into them again and they directed us to the gorgeous spot.
Here's me pretending to be some sort of Disney princess. There's no need to tell me I'm a BTEC version.
Another woman offered to take a photo of us together.
Mum headed back to the path out while I took some more photos to the blog.
I guess Mum looked kind of lost because some people asked if she was ok. On the way out I took some more photos of the spring flowers.
Then we headed back down the mountain, back to Leura. This time we dropped in at The Bunker.
We didn't have reservation for the restaurant, but thought we'd try our luck. We'd looked at the menu online and decided to skip dinner and go straight for dessert.
It was a lovely little walk to the restaurant.
We arrived just as a couple was being told there were no spots available. We were greeted by a staff member who told us they wouldn't be able to accommodate us because they would run out of food if they did. It was at this point we revealed our grand plan just to have dessert. Thankfully they were able to fit us in.
Not me taking a photo of the bathroom tiles because I thought they were pretty.
I definitely recommend the apple crumble... unless of course you don't like apples. Then maybe try something else. The dish looked so delicious it deserved its own photo shoot.
By the end of our day trip Mum was posing for photos with very little encouragement.
Join me again soon for more adventures somewhere in the world. (Most likely around Sydney and the Blue Mountains because that's where I'm currently located).
