Birthday Week - The Final Instalment
Welcome to the final instalment of Birthday Week. I considered splitting this post into two parts. You know like the big movie studios do when there's a series of books they're turning into films, but I know there's a lot of demand out there for me to complete this series. So here is the epic conclusion of the trilogy.
We've finally made it to my actual birthday. Mum and I went on a little trip to Mrs C's Cupcakes in Penrith. Rather than having one big cake for my birthday, I decided five little cakes would be better.
I couldn't walk past the flower wall without posing for a few photos.
Later that evening Mum, Eric and I hit up Italian restaurant Tins and Wood for a delightful dinner.
I really enjoyed my garlic prawns and pasta.
I don't think my enjoyment had anything to do with drinking most of my French Martini before I ate.
Mum and Eric also highly rated their dishes.
I had a little photo shoot before going out to dinner.
I was going to use the numbered candles as photo props, but I accidentally kind of completely broke the number 3 when I was taking it out of the packet. Yep, I'm pretty strong. Staying at home during 2020 had no impact on my ability of break fragile candles.
We stopped by Woolies on the way home from the restaurant to pick up a replacement 3.
Back at home I carefully arranged the lemon meringue, vanilla, Cherry Ripe, and two caramel cupcakes on a silver platter.
Each of us tried all of the delectable flavours. I'm not normally a fan of chocolate cake, but even the Cherry Ripe cupcake with its lightly whipped frosting was a winner.
The birthday cakes didn't stop there. The next day while I was visiting Katie and her two boys she baked me a cake.
The pink icing topped with shredded coconut reminded me of Iced Vovos.
During birthday week I also had a few chats with Adelyn. We cheers-ed.
She put me in her doll's high chair. (Previously I've also spent time in Addy's bouncer, her doll's stroller, under the coffee table, and in a drawer.)
A few days later I caught up with Matt of Blue Mountains Musical Society fame. Our evening began at The Bavarian where we received a very in-depth tutorial of how to use the online menu. I'd like to say this tutorial was unnecessary, but considering the difficulty we both experienced trying to check-in with the QR code at the entrance we probably did need it.
The chicken parmigiana (which we both ordered) looked promising, but all I can promise you if you order it is disappointment. I asked Matt to rate his meal for the blog, and he initially gave it a solid 3 out of 5, but after further discussion it was downgraded to a shaky 3, and then a 2.5.
We tried the chicken parmigiana at The Bavarian, so you don't have to. You're welcome.
San Churro had come through with a birthday voucher, so we headed over there for free churros for two.
Thankfully the food here was delicious, and the waitstaff were very polite.
The next day Mum, Grandpa and I grabbed lunch at Arthur Street Cafe. The best thing about this place was the punny menu,
and the door on the wall.
You might say I couldn’t handle how a-door-able it was.
Grandpa was a little disappointed with his prawn to pasta ratio, but who has ever actually cooked the right amount of pasta in their life?
I was a little disappointed that my poached eggs weren't runny. Like a true millennial I ordered smashed avocado for my toast.
Then just like that birthday week was over, but never fear because more adventures are afoot.
