Adventures With Mum

For years I'd seen the sign for the Museum of Fire in Penrith.

I thought Seniors Day with cheaper entry for seniors and additional stalls and exhibits would be the perfect day to go.

Here's what I wrote about the experience on Facebook after attending the museum.

"How do people handle being rebels and doing the wrong thing on purpose?

Today Mum and I visited the Museum of Fire. When we arrived outside there was a man in a collared shirt and suit pants talking to a lady also in business attire. The man told us about the stalls, and said we could even get coffee. After he walked away the woman told us a bit more information and got us to check in.

A little later I was trying to take a selfie of Mum and I with a fire truck when the man from earlier told us to get in and he would take some photos. I thought that because he worked at the museum it would be ok.

Then two people who actually work at the museum came over and told us to get out of the truck. I guess that man doesn't work for the museum.

Sorry again to the Museum of Fire. Although, in my defence I didn't see any barriers around the trucks or saying not to climb in them.

I deleted all the photos, but here's one I recovered to remember that time I got in trouble at the museum on Seniors Day."

The Museum of Fire is probably my least favourite museum I've visited, but maybe if you go and don't get in trouble you'll enjoy it more.

Here are a few more photos from my visit.

You might enjoy discovering the history more than I did.

That fire truck was technically meant for the children.

I can definitely recommend The Savoury Dining.

The fish and chips and strawberry milkshake were delish and just what I needed after my run in with the museum staff.

Just before lockdown began it was Mum's birthday, so we ventured out to Riverside Bar and Dining.

The wall told me to drink, so I did.

Unfortunately I enjoyed this pina colada as much I enjoy getting caught in the rain, which is not at all.

The food, on the other hand, was delightful.

My selfie game was strong that night.

The next day we had a small s'mores cake from Masala Kitchen.

It was one of the nicest cakes I’ve ever had.

Mum also had her annual birthday photo shoot.

This tradition began last year in lockdown.

A little earlier in the week we'd also been out to lunch at Outback Steakhouse with Eric, Chelle and Daniel.

My usual order of Alice Springs chicken, and Chocolate Thunder dessert did not disappoint. The sangria was also a hit.
