Fun, Friendships and All That Jazz
Over the past 3 weekends I've had the privilege of performing in Chicago with Blue Mountains Musical Society.

Before we made it to the stage we laughed, leap frogged and shooshed our way through rehearsals.

We also did a little dancing, singing and acting.

One of the things that drew me to audition for the show was the inmates' costume.

The track pants were perfect for standing,

sitting,
stretching,
Fosse-ing,

chatting about murdered husbands,

flashing,

and spending time in the clink.

They were not, however, perfect for washing with tissues in the pockets. Please don't ask how I know this.
Another cool part of the costume was the (temporary) tattoos.
As you can see they made me look really tough.
And these green tutus made Amy, Karis, Piper and I look very graceful.

The opening night party was filled with the best kind of chaos
with the best kind of people.
Although, thanks to the C-word (COVID) some of the cast weren't there.
But their shoes were.
In this show Amy, Bec and I went from being awkward sisters to awkward misters.
Sometimes we're not completely awkward.
Sometimes...
COVID also saw a few fabulous special guests join us for weekend 2.
Over all 3 weekends I had the pleasure of performing alongside some of my colleagues from LKM Performing Arts.
Here's a photo of us from sitzprobe in the best cast shirts ever. Thank you Elena for making our shirts look so fab.
The experience wasn't always party party.
But I'd rate our recovery efforts quite highly.

In those times it was quite helpful to have a fan from Sam
and a doughnut from Kelly. I didn't take this photo, but I certainly did take a doughnut.
It's about damn time I tell you about the beauties in dressing room 2.
They reminded me to focus and to give up.
In my mind: I bet I look really cool and mysterious sitting in this chair against the wall.
This photo:
Dressing room 2 lovelies, never change... so I can keep making fun of you, but also because I love you and think you're amazing.
Some of us also had a little home in dressing room 1.
Sometimes we ventured from this home and laid on the floor.
Other times we took photos with other cast members in dressing room 1.
Each time I ventured across to dressing room 1 I tried to guess what warm-up game they'd be doing.
Each time I was wrong.
I'm not quite sure what to say about these photos, other than you're welcome.
The only photo I took at the cast/crew dinner was with Amy and her small glass of pineapple juice - her very small glass of pineapple juice.
I think Kitty's been overselling the size of her father's pineapples.
Please direct any questions you have about the cast dinner to Mirabai.
The party kicked on at the Lappo for one final performance.
It was such a pleasure to be part of something so wonderful. But nothin' stays. In 50 years or so I'll probably forget who some of you are (Who's Dani?), but I'll remember what an amazing experience this was.
Love and lobbies always. xo
P.S. Have a great summer!
