Last Christmas
In true Clary fashion, I'm not up-to-date with my blog. This blog is not in fact about the Christmas that happened on Sunday, but about Christmas last year.
On Christmas morning Mum and I video called the Bravos.
Addy was already wearing the Elsa outfit we bought her as she was allowed to open that present a little early.
She was excited about her new long hair.
When I chose the Frozen costume for her I wasn't sure how much she would like it. Turns out she really likes it. Fast forward one year and she recently wore it 5 days in a row. She also insists on being called Elsa when she wears it.
Anyway, back to last Christmas. Alicia asked if Addy wanted her to read the card. "No, I'll read it."
Apparently Mum had written "thank you" and had also written about Alicia and Carlos' friend Mike and his dog, Finn.
Addy loved the Doc McStuffins coat and equipment. She transformed into Dr Elsa McStuffins.
She completed check ups on the family in her makeshift medical clinic - the kitchen floor.
"I need to check your heart," she told Carlos. She declared his heart was good. Although it did appear to be in his shoulder.
Alicia's heart was also good. Unfortunately, her finger was not. Thankfully Addy's medical training meant she was able to treat it effectively. Addy put the end of her hair on Alicia's finger, then kissed it.
Alicia also required an injection. Addy counted to 13, provided the injection, then exclaimed, "We did it!" Such wonderful bedside manner.
At one point Addy requested her name badge be taken off. She decided it would be more effective as a phone. She made several phone calls to her paediatrician.
"Hello. Daddy's not feeling well. Bye."
"Mummy's not well."
"Hello Dr Cruz. I'm feeling well. Bye."
Addy also read us a little of the book we bought her. Well, it was her own version of the book.
Last Christmas was sadly my last Christmas with Grandpa who passed away in July of this year (after being given 3 months to live in June of last year). Grandpa was never one to be told what to do. He always did things according to his own timeline.
After a mini Christmas photo shoot Mum and I were off to Grandpa's for Christmas lunch.
Grandpa's only food request for that day had been ham off the bone. He was absolutely delighted that Mum had been able to acquire some from a local butcher.
He rated it 9 out of 10, but that's only because "nothing's perfect."
It was a small gathering, but it was filled with love.
Back at home Mum and I had a little Christmas party because why not. Actually, I originally prepared this because I was a casual COVID contact and needed to be tested. I wasn't sure how long it would take for my results to return or what the outcome would be. Luckily I received a negative result in time to go to Grandpa's, but I certainly wasn't going to waste party plans.
We put on our best outfits (or accessories).
I transformed this...
into this.
We listened to a few festive tunes
and watched the Rockettes pivot, beville and eye-high kick their way across the Radio City Music Hall stage.
Last Christmas was pretty special.
