Showtime 2022

This post is all about the musicals I saw in 2022. Unfortunately, most of them have closed because I’m kind of behind with my blogging.

Please enjoy this walk down a musical memory lane.

The Little Prince

Mum and I saw this at the Sydney Coliseum Theatre in Rooty Hill.

The Little Prince was an interesting, eclectic contemporary dance performance with some scenes more captivating than others.

Six

I saw this show with Amy.

We travelled to the Sydney Opera House for this one.

Of course we needed photos in front of the harbour's icons.

Here we are on thrones being the icons.

I loved Six's modern take on the story of Henry VIII's wives.

One of my favourite parts was they allowed you to film and photograph the final song.

The costumes, lighting, choreography and talent all get 6 stars.

An American in Paris

This show I'd seen before on Broadway, but couldn't pass up the opportunity to see it in Sydney.

The Theatre Royal is lovely venue if you ignore the layout of the carpark.

While An American in Paris on Broadway is my favourite musical of all time, Sydney's version didn't quite reach the same standard. Despite it not meeting my too high expectations I thoroughly enjoyed the show. I did not, however, enjoy that on a Sunday afternoon most dining options were closed.

Jagged Little Pill

Mum and I saw this show at night so were able to dine at one of the restaurants in the Martin Place complex. The service at L'uva was efficient and friendly, and the food was pretty tasty.

Jagged Little Pill was such an incredible musical that tackled some really important societal issues through the music of Alanis Morrissette.

If you ever get the chance to see it you oughta go.

Cinderella

Mum and I enjoyed a lovely afternoon/evening in the city for this musical.

I took some photos for the blog.

One of them even ended up on the official Cinderella Australia Instagram page. I guess I'm basically an influencer now.

forced gently persuaded Mum to get some photos too.

We enjoyed children's meals from Bar Nexus.

Although you should be warned the sauce containers have a lid, just so you don’t get confused about why none of the sauce is going on your chip. This definitely didn’t happen to Mum.

The classic Roger's and Hammerstein Cinderella truly was lavish and lovely.

About a month after seeing the magical production I realised the actor who played Friedrich von Trapp in the Sound of Music movie was in the show. Mum was delighted to discover this news because the Sound of Music is her favourite movie, which she was watched many times at the pictures.

We even got these cute free badges at the end of the show.

I was pretty pumped they matched my butterfly clip.

Cinderella is actually still on at the Sydney Lyric Theatre until January 29.
