The Grounds of Alexandria

I may have just travelled on a couple of planes to New York, but it's time to travel back to January 2022. This was when I travelled in a car with Mum to The Grounds of Alexandria.





The theme for the laneways on this trip was Beauty and the Beast.





The Grounds always do an immaculate job with their installations.




I always appreciate their attention to detail.




On this particular visit I was celebrating my birthday.



After eating some delicious food, we ordered their specialty cake.



Our waiter even put sparklers in the cake for my birthday.




I also returned to The Grounds of Alexandria for a visit in August 2022.




This time I wanted to see the Alice in Wonderland decorations.






Mum and I found our way around.




It was quite a colourful adventure.






The food was delicious and this dessert was exquisite.



After dinner we headed back into the Laneway to view it at night.



This is probably the most accurate photo of our adventure.



I wish I could recommend visiting these installations at The Grounds, but they closed a long time ago. Instead, you can catch their Christmas decorations.

That Time I Surprised Addy

At the beginning of last year I decided it would be fun to spend Christmas in New York with my niece. I also thought it would be a good idea to surprise her. A week or so (I actually can’t remember how long before) my mum and I told Addy over a video call that we’d be spending Christmas with her, her mum (my sister, Alicia) and her dad (Carlos). The journey for Mum and I started in Sydney… with a photo for the blog, of course.  After an insane amount of hours flying, an encounter with an angry, egotistical TSA agent (or was that on the way home?) we made it to the newly renovated Terminal B in LaGuardia Airport.  Back tracking a little, Mum and I were lined up to walk past sniffer dogs. Wisconsin Adventures

While in America in January last year I took a little trip to Wisconsin to visit Kyra and meet her son, Walter, for the first time in real life.  I took off from LaGuardia airport.  And touched down in Milwaukee.  I stayed at Kyra’s parents’ place with Mom and Dad Nowacki (Kyra and her family were one of my adopted families when I lived in America… as a 26 year old).  Kyra, Walter and I ventured Downtown.  We had some snacks and hot drinks.  Walter kept peaking out on the way back to the car. He wanted to know what was going on. I also think he was a little confused that I kept going everywhere with them.  We took a few touristy shots.  And a few festive ones.  We took all these photos for the blog, of course.  We watched a little football.
